A word from Natalie Fleet MP about the 55 bus service

After the collapse of Hulley's of Baslow, Pilsley Parish Council reached out to Natalie Fleet MP for Bolsover. We have received a response which we would like to share below. Prior to the collapse of Hulley's of Baslow I had received numerous complaints regarding the reliability from constituents. On 7th March, I wrote to the managing director of Hulley's of Baslow regarding these ongoing reliability problems; unfortunately, I did not receive a reply. The loss of the 55 route is extremely troubling, as numerous residents have expressed how its unreliability has adversely impacted their daily lives.

I am treating this development with the urgency it deserves and have already written to Derbyshire County Council and Claire Ward, East Midlands Combined Authority Mayor. I have been in regular communication with Cllr Gillott and have written to Cllr Cupit in her role as cabinet member for Transport. I have written to Chesterfield College and Tibshelf School to ensure that students are not disadvantaged by the loss of the #55.

It is imperative that we address this disruption and work towards re-establishing a bus route as swiftly as possible.

In the mean time, I have highlighted the Derbyshire Travel on Demand service on my social media channels and to those constituents that have written in expressing their concerns on the loss of bus #55.
